I am attracted to certain materials; wet jello, stiff carpet, brittle glass, hammered steel. When these materials are in my hands and on my skin their physical properties, tolerances and social contexts become the content of my work. My writing forms a narrative scaffold that guides the audience through the actions and the sensations I feel while interacting with my materials. I speak to deepen a corporeal connection to my ideas through voice and the materiality of my breath. Through this practice I am developing a cyclical progression, like a spiral, which builds from the inside out, looping from instinct towards concept, privileging modes of sensory experience as an essential navigational tool.
